Rachel was born on February 6, 1930, near Guernsey, Iowa to Robert and Theresa Hartman Rinehart. She was raised in the Victor area and graduated from Guernsey High School. She attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and taught in rural school.
On September 18, 1949, she was married to Raymond F. Stoker at the United Methodist Church in Victor. The couple operated a grain and dairy farm near Guernsey and she was a homemaker. In 1971, the family moved to Creston and she worked as a nurse in the surgical department of the Greater Community Hospital. They retired in 1985 and returned to their farm near Guernsey.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cross stitching and traveling in Nova Scotia, Switzerland, Alaska, Japan and throughout the United States.
She is survived by her children, Marcia (Gary) Schultz of White Wright, TX and David (Elizabeth) Stoker of Guernsey; one grandson, Matt (Missy) Ogan; three great grandchildren, Garrett, Halley and Jessica Ogan; and two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Rinehart and Raymond (Donnabelle) Rinehart, both of Victor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorials may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice or to St. John's Lutheran Church and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home.
