Memories and condolences may be shared online with her family at www.smithfh.com. Netha Irene Maudlin was born at home near Ladora, Iowa on August 23, 1914 to Spencer and Ada Sims Maudlin. During her early years, she lived next to and attended Hartford #1 School, three miles southwest of Ladora. She graduated from Ladora High School in 1932. On February 10, 1937 she married Milton Langhein. They built a house and began farming six miles southeast of Victor, where they raised grain, garden produce, milk cows, pigs, chickens and one son Wayne. She was very involved in the farming operation and always loved fresh air and considered herself a "farmer at heart." The family attended the Ohio Methodist Church, where she accepted Christ as her Savior in her early teens. They later joined the Victor Baptist Church, where she met her future husband and remained a member for 85 years. She was active in teaching, nursery and women's work, and one of her most rewarding activities was shepherding 21 boys and girls through a nine-year scripture memory course. Their pictures were always on her wall. Her husband Milton passed away in 1975, after which her father lived with her for nine years. She kept busy visiting people, driving them to appointments, making tape copies of Sunday services and delivering them to shut-ins, anything that would give her an excuse to drive. Even at Rose Haven, one of her desires was to someday drive the golf cart. Netha is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife Pat of Springfield, Illinois; grandson, Mark of Irvington, Alabama; granddaughter, Karleen of Springfield, Illinois; niece, Evelyn Bolger of Marengo; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a niece, Betty Goodman.
