Ramona J. James, 84, of Grinnell, died on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Heart of Worship Church in Lynnville with Rev. Tom Pool, pastor of the church, and Rev. Robert James officiating. Anita Reihmann will be the eulogist. Music will be provided by Heather James, pianist, Rhonda Minner, vocalist and Dan Cross, guitarist. Casket Bearers will be Tom Burk, Kevin Davis, Donny James, Tim James, Mark James, Dennis James and Doug James. Interment will be at the Woodland Cemetery near Lynnville.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ramona was born on January 19, 1932, in Marysville, Iowa to Cedric and Lucille Wallace Davis. She attended grade school in Marysville and graduated from Lovilla High School. Following high school, she attended a business college in Des Moines, Iowa.
One December 27, 1953, she was married to Russell James in Knoxville and to this union was born one son, David. She was a homemaker and worked as a beautician for Flossie Beauty Salon.
Ramona was a long time member of the Heart of Worship Church near Lynnville. She received the Lord into her life at a young age and served the church in various ways during her Christian life.
Her hobbies included golfing, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Russell James of Grinnell; one son, David James of Grinnell; one sister, Emma Lou Burk of Marysville; one brother, Howard (Lois) Davis of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Davis.
