Paul Hamor, 94, of Brooklyn and formerly of Grinnell, died on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Ken Wallace and Pastor Matt Oleson, officiating. Music will be provided by Jean Carnahan, pianist and Becky Wallace, vocalist. Casket Bearers will be John Duncan, Jessica Kephart, Chad Hamor, Matthew Hamor, Andrew Hamor, and Jason Hamor. Interment will be at the Westfield Cemetery near Grinnell.
Friends may call at the funeral home beginning 12 noon on Thursday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on Thursday.

Paul was born on September 25, 1920, in Grinnell, Iowa to Jesse and Augusta Helm Hamor. He was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1939. Following his education he was employed with the Halstead Brothers Trucking Company and drove livestock trucks and chartered buses. He also assisted his father with farming.
On June 25, 1949, he was married to Edith "Darlene" Hamor in Grinnell. The couple farmed south of Grinnell and he also worked for the Donaldson Company, the Grinnell Reinsurance and operated a small restaurant in Grinnell. He sold his farm in 1966 and began the Hamor Real Estate Agency in Grinnell. Besides working in real estate, he represented Wick Homes, Inc. as a dealer. After his retirement, he and Darlene mowed various cemeteries in the Grinnell area and he became employed with the Poweshiek Rural Water Association overseeing construction projects.
Paul was a long-time member of the Grinnell Rotary Club and he enjoyed engine repair, boating and rock tumbling. He was a devoted husband and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Robert (René) Hamor and Linda Duncan, all of Ralston, NE and Michael (Ranae) Hamor of Gilman; eight grandchildren, Debbie Wagner, Kelli Vilez, Chad Hamor, Jason Hamor, John Duncan, Jessica Kephart, Matthew Hamor and Andrew Hamor; 13 great grandchildren, Dustin, Jared and Jordan Wagner, Kacee Hamor, Wesley Hamor, Alyssa Johnson, Gage Hulin, Brittany Hamor, Wesley Duncan, Mackenzie Duncan, Austin Kephart, Tyler Kephart and Jayden Kephart; and two great great grandchildren, Mila and Warren Johnson
He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Larry Hamor; his parents; two grandchildren, Larry Hamor Jr and Tonya Hamor; and two brothers, Clarence and Wade Hamor.
