Jeston C. Norenberg, 37, of Grinnell died September 8, 2012, at his home.
A prayer service has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with Rev. Nick Adam, St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jeston Norenberg Memorial Fund.
Jeston was born May 19, 1975, in Hibbing, Minnesota, the son of Daryl W. and Brenda Bode Norenberg. He was raised and home schooled in Hibbing and later received his BA degree in business from the University of Phoenix. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Alabama (SSBN-731), a nuclear-powered fleet ballistic missile submarine.
On July 10, 1999, he was united in marriage to Christina Zawacki, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The couple lived in Washington State while he served in the Navy. Following his discharge the couple lived in Sunnyvale, California where he was employed with New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI). In 2010, they moved to Peoria, Arizona and he was employed as a mechanic for a pharmaceutical company. They moved to Grinnell in 2011 and he was employed at Montezuma Manufacturing.
Jeston enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He was an avid cyclist.
Survivors include his wife, Christina of Grinnell; two sons, Jeston, Jr. and Michael Norenberg, both of Grinnell; his parents, Daryl and Brenda Norenberg of Hibbing, Minnesota; one brother, Jerry (Amy) Norenberg of Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota; and one sister, Jodah (Joe) Franzinelli of Hibbing.
