Lorna was born on December 18, 1935, in Montezuma, Iowa to Arthur and Merna Chase Parkhurst. She was raised in Oskaloosa and attended Oskaloosa public schools. On September 26, 1953, she was married to Richard Brummel in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple lived in Oskaloosa and Williamsburg before moving to Grinnell. She worked in the health care system at the Marengo Hospital and the Poweshiek County Home Health Service. In 1989, the couple moved to Rock Creek Lake. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Curtis (Tammy) Brummel of Oskaloosa, Jeffery Brummel of Des Moines and Julie (Dan) Owens of Grinnell; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one sister, Elinor Beach of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents.
