Katherine was born on January 12, 1920, in Hasty, Colorado to Andrew and Marie Etzel Suppes. The family moved to Kansas and Ohio before moving to Hector, Minnesota. She attended rural school.
On September 10, 1937, she was married to Charles W. Marquardt in St. Paul, Minnesota. The couple lived in Chatfield, Minnesota and returned to the Hector area to farm. In 1954, the family moved to Grinnell, Iowa and she was a homemaker and mother of four children. She also worked for McNally's Grocery Store.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and she enjoyed attending family reunions in Minnesota and wintering in Arizona.
Survivors include her children, Jeanette (Fred) Hejna of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Yvonne (Dave) Munson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Ron (Janet) Marquardt of Canyon Lake, California and Wayne (Donna) Marquardt of Mediapolis, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two grandchildren; seven brothers, Joe, Leonard, John, Jake, Pete, Andrew and George Suppes; and seven sisters, Mary Quinn, Rose Markgraf, Jane Richardson, Marie, Pauline, Margaret and Esther Suppes.
