Obituary

Herbert was born on October 9, 1925, in Victor, Iowa to Fred and Florence Messer Neuhaus. He was raised in Victor and graduated from Victor High School. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. On January 6, 1946, he was married to Wilma Burke at St. John's Lutheran Church near Victor. The couple lived in Lincoln, Iowa and later moved to Victor. He worked for the Amana Refrigeration Company for ten years and later worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired in 1989. Herbert was a member of the Victor Volunteer Fire Department and the Harold E. Smith American Legion Post #54. He was also involved with the Victor Boy Scouts. His hobbies included golf, bowling and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Neuhaus of Victor; his children, Linda (Michael) Light of Des Moines, Larry (Teri) Neuhaus of Hartwick, Lyle (Barbara) Neuhaus and Lynn Neuhaus, both of Victor; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Everett Neuhaus. Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church in Victor.
