Grover Michael Loftin was born the son of Grover Junior Loftin and Faye Gross Loftin on July 14, 1948, in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1966. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwest Missouri State. Mike was united in marriage to Dena Proctor on August 3, 1996 in Grinnell, Iowa. The couple resided on the Loftin family farm and Mike was a district seed salesman for Kruger Seed Company and was a life-long Hampshire hog breeder. Mike was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Poweshiek County 4-H. His enjoyments included golfing, traveling, and attending hog shows throughout the country. Mike is survived by his wife, Dena Loftin of Grinnell; his children, Grover Matthew Loftin of San Antonio, TX, Anne Loftin of Rock Island, IL, Jill Loftin of Lakewood, CO, Deidra Coleman of Chicago, IL; his parents, Grover and Faye Loftin of Grinnell; and his sister, Julie Loftin of Grinnell. Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Todd Loftin, who died in infancy October 4, 1966. Memorials may be directed to the Michael Loftin Memorial Fund to benefit several organizations of the family's choice.
