Geraldine 'Geri' Criswell, 77, of Rock Creek Lake, Kellogg, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Criswell will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating. Organist will be Kathleen McCune. Pallbearers will be Charlie, Dennis, Fred, and Neal Criswell, and Nick and Kevin Long. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Geraldine Criswell Memorial Fund.
The daughter of Leo and Beulah Mae Wood French, she was born May 13, 1928, in Aurora, Indiana. She later moved with her family to Grinnell and received her education in the Grinnell School District. She was married to James Rex Criswell March 5, 1949, in Grinnell and the couple made their home in Newton for a few years before returning to Grinnell. They moved to Rock Creek Lake in 1968. She was a homemaker, but had also over the years worked as a hostess at the Ramada Inn in Newton and later at Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Wayne's Steak House in Grinnell, Grinnell College Forum Grill, and St. Francis Manor.
Survivors include her husband Rex of Rock Creek Lake; two children, Karla Sandell of Grass Lake, Michigan and Kirby Criswell of Rock Creek Lake; one brother, Raymond French of Rock Creek Lake; five grandchildren, Robin Vos, Annie Morton, Nick and Kevin Long, and Skyler Criswell; and three great grandchildren, Reese Miller, Marlie Morton and Reagan Long. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Kevin Criswell on March 7, 2001.
