Obituary

Don was born on July 14, 1916, in Bangor Township, Marshall County, Iowa to John and Beulah Johnson Renaud. He was raised on a farm in Bangor Township and attended rural school. He graduated with the Class of 1933 from Union High School and later attended Iowa State University in Ames. During World War II he served with the United States Army. On June 8, 1941, he was married to Alice Piper in Albion, Iowa. The couple lived near Newburg and he operated a grain and livestock farm. The couple has resided at the Mayflower Homes in Grinnell for the past ten years. Don was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Grinnell and he served on various committees of the church and was a member of the Poweshiek County Cattlemen's Association and the Rotary Club. He was also Past President of the Grinnell-Newburg School Board and Grinnell Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Alice Renaud of Grinnell; one son, Paul Renaud of Davenport; two daughters, Janet Liston of Dublin, Ohio and Joann Wells of Grinnell; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Soukup of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Michelle Renaud. Memorials may be directed to the Mayflower Homes or to Rotary International and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
