Carrol was born October 8, 1916, in Genoa Bluff, Iowa the youngest of 10 children of Charles and Mary Meier Haman. He was raised and attended rural school near Genoa Bluff. He was married to Onla Sloan February 1, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived near Marengo and he was employed as a mechanic at Haman Garage in Genoa Bluff and later at Amana Refrigeration. He is survived by two children, David Haman of Des Moines and Kayla (Bill) Sloan of Marion;two grandchildren, Caroline (Bob) Pester of Des Moines and Kevin Sloan of Marion; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Pester of Des Moines; one sister, Rose Shullof Ladora; and five sisters-in-law, Helen Haman of Marengo, Mary Brown of Belle Plaine, Brownie Mumby of Marengo, Marlene Sloan of Victor, and Irene Sloan of Altoona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Onla; his parents; four brothers, John, George, Henry and Lawrence; and four sisters, Martha Wyant, Clara Hawkins, Mabel Van Blaricom and Alma Weaver.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the infantry in the South Pacific during World War II.
