Blake Morrison, 27, of Grinnell, died on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

The family will receive friends at the visitation held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell. A celebration of life gathering and luncheon will be held at 4:00 pm, July 3, 2025 at the Eagles in Grinnell.

Blake Mitchell Morrison was born January 13, 1998 to Bryan Morrison and Kim (Harris) Morrison Patten. He grew up in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools, where he enjoyed theater and improv.

Blake worked at Jimmy Johns for over 10 years as a sandwich artist. He enjoyed his job and met many of his close friends there. He had his headphones on most of the time, as he loved music. He had a very wide range of artists; his favorites being the Dead Kennedys and Hall & Oates.

Blake enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a very intelligent young man and was a history enthusiast. He typically used words that his family and friends had to Google to see what they meant. He always loved a good homemade meal and traveling to new places. He loved playing Dungeons and Dragons, creating compelling and lovable characters for the game, and creating fond memories with his friends. From a very young age, he drew characters and loved his Pokémon. He will forever be remembered as a great son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to so many.

Survivors include his mother, Kim Patten; step-father, Tom Patten; father, Bryan (Ronē) Morrison, brother Brett (Sarah) Morrison and a niece (due in July); step-sister, Emily Patten; grandparents, Daryl and Connie Morrison, Linda and Ray Hunter, and Ron (Jake Minear) Kerber; aunts and uncles, Deb Arment, Vickie (Mark) Rutherford, Mike (Misty) Harris, Amanda Kerber, Daryl "Buck" (Tawnya) Morrison Jr.; cousins, Justin (Shannon) Arment, Corey (LaRae) Arment, Amber (Brian) Lewis, Holli (Brett) Robbins, Nick (Josie) Rutherford, Gehrig Owens, Gregory Foshee, and Emalee Harris; many second cousins; and his beloved dog and cat, Bosco and Barney. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Shirley Harris.
