Obituary

Anne was born on July 26, 1924, in Eldora, Iowa to Dr. Ralph and Malie Buford Gray. She was raised in Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School in 1942 as valedictorian. Following high school she attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois for two years. On August 11, 1944, she was married to Edward H. Bohstedt at the First Baptist Church in Eldora. The couple made their home in Grinnell and owned and operated an insurance and real estate business, known as Edan Corporation. In 1983, they moved into their dream home, which was designed by Ann and built by their son, Ralph. Anne's faith and family were foremost in her life. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Grinnell and taught in kindergarten Sunday school for many years. She held local and regional office in the American Baptist Women's Association. She and Edward led mission tour groups to Zaire, Kenya, Europe, the Iron Curtain countries and Central America. She was involved for many years with the Grinnell Camp Fire Girls, including terms as Board President. She was also involved as a member of the DAR, Daughters of American Colonists, PEO for 62 years, and the Audubon Society. Her hobbies included reading, traveling, bird watching, flowers and nature. She is survived by children and their spouses, Cynthia and Bradford Kenyon of Portland, Oregon and Claudia and John Bloom of La Mirada, California and Ralph and Beth Bohstedt of Grinnell; four grandchildren, Mark, Seth and Abigail Bohstedt and David Bloom; two step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Palmer of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
