Mildred was born the daughter Claude and Marie Horack Thompson on March 11, 1921 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised in Grinnell and she graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1939.

She was united in marriage to Oscar Kenneth Goreham on September 8, 1943 at the United Methodist Church in Grinnell. In 1948, they left Iowa and Kenneth owned and operated of American Motors in Junction City, Kansas. They later moved back to Grinnell in 2005.

Mildred’s family, friends and her faith in God were her life. She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s Fellowship Committee, the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Beauceant, Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, and she worked the Election Board for over thirty years. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed composing poetry and watching plays at the Little Theatre in Kansas.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Goreham of Junction City, Kansas, Mildred “Ann” (Richard) MacKenzie of Roswell, Georgia, and Nancy (Larry) Jones of Tucson, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy (John) Peak of Grinnell; her brother, Donald (Jane) Thompson of Grinnell; and her brother-in-law, Warren Miller of Grinnell. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth on March 24, 2010; and her sister, Eleanor Miller on March 3, 2008.
