Connie was born on August 25, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska to Earl and Gladys (Dusenberry) Peterson. She attended public schools in Cedar Rapids and attended Iowa State University. She transferred to Coe College and graduated with an Education Degree and taught school in Rialto, California and West Hartford, Connecticut.
On August 24, 1957, she was married to Thomas K. Marshall in Cedar Rapids. The couple moved to Grinnell in 1981, where she was employed at Grinnell College as an instructor and administrator covering for sabbatical leaves of absence.

Connie was a motivating and supportive teacher, a cherished and trusted friend, an ever positive mother of three children and eight grandchildren, and a loving wife of over fifty-two years.
Connie was active in the Grinnell Area Arts Council and the Art Advisory Committee at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. She was also a member of the Drummond Club, Levart Club and the PEO, Chapter JB.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas K. Marshall of Grinnell; three children, David Marshall and his wife, Martha Clark, of Northampton, MA, Amy Flannery and her husband, Jim, of The Woodlands, TX. and Stephen Marshall and his wife, Laura, of Chelmsford, MA; and eight grandchildren, Colleen, Jessica, Olivia, Laura, Ethan, Jill, Charlotte and Lillian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Rodd Peterson; and one sister, Carole Petersen.
