Delores was born the daughter of Francis “Eugene” Cook and Florence Eliza Thompson on February 10, 1923, in Muscatine, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Muscatine.
|
She was united in marriage to Walter Wendell Terrell on April 7, 1951 in Rock Island, Illinois. The couple was blessed with five children, Wendell, Clifford, Sandra, Yvonne and Brent. The family moved to Grinnell in 1953. They owned a local barber shop for many years and Delores was a homemaker.
|
Delores dearly loved her grandchildren. Her family described her as being strong-willed, opinionated, and self-sufficient. Her enjoyments included playing bingo, reading mystery and love story books, and crocheting, in which she made a blanket for each of her grandchildren. She held a special love for her companion Yorkshire Terrier “Impy.”

Delores is survived by her children, Wendell (Joann) Terrell of Eddyville, Iowa, Clifford (Janet) Terrell of Knoxville, Iowa, Sandra (Jim) Van Draska of Grinnell, Yvonne “Bonnie” Harvey of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Brent (Jenny) Terrell of Indianola, Iowa; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Delores passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. She was 87 years of age and she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wendell in 1995; and her brothers, Dwayne, Forrest, Beverly and Douglas Cook.
