Earl was born on September 16, 1929, in Malcom, Iowa to Earl Leona Stensend Reedy. He was raised in Malcom and graduated from Malcom High School with the Class of 1947. Earl honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1954. He was the recipient of the Domain of the Golden Dragon and the Honorary Order of Arctic Adventurers. Following his service in the military, he worked as a grocery store manager for two years and then began at 35 year career as a postal worker at the Grinnell Post Office. He was married to Barbara Faye Lincoln on April 10, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell until moving to Mukwonago in 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman Reedy; and one sister, Patty Reedy.

He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Elks, having been a member for 54 years. He served as P.E.R, secretary and treasurer for the local lodge, and as Vice President of the Southeast District of the Iowa Elks, and Past D.D.G.E.R. of the national level of the Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, David (Brenda) Reedy of Ankeny; one daughter, Susan (Ron) Amero of Mukwonago; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Carmen Wiebold of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman Reedy; and one sister, Patty Reedy.
