Carol Lee Shepard

Carol was born on April 24, 1946, the daughter of Merle S. and Leta Noreen Shroyer Niemisto in Santa Monica, California. Her family moved to Pueblo, Colorado. That is where she met William L. Shepard. They were married on June 13, 1970, in Pueblo. They moved back to Iowa in 1979. She enjoyed her plants and flowers, especially spider plants and philodendrons. Carol loved her family, but those granddaughters held a special place in her heart. She didn’t like to have her picture taken, but made sure that there were some of her granddaughters and her on her last birthday.

Carol is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, William Shepard Sr. of Grinnell; their children, William Shepard Jr., Steven (Megan) Shepard, and Maggie Phipps, all of Grinnell; four granddaughters, McKinnah and Veronica Mitchell, Leta and Bailei Shepard of Grinnell; one sister Patsy Phipps of Pueblo, Colorado; and dear friends, Mike Nevitt, Jeremy and Heather Williams and their children, Ashley, Russel and Alex. Carol was preceded in death by her parents. She will be missed by all, but forever in our hearts.
