Warren G. Fogel, 88, of Grinnell died April 16, 2010, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor Bonnie Koeppen, pastor of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Cemetery, rural Poweshiek County, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30. Memorials may be directed to the Warren G. Fogel Memorial Fund.

Warren was born February 17, 1922, in Malcom, the son of George and Susie Clark Fogel. He was raised in the Malcom area and attended a country school near his home. On June 18, 1941, he was united in marriage to Marie Elizabeth Stone, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed near Brooklyn, Garwin, and Tama prior to settling on their current farm near Grinnell. He was also employed in food service at Grinnell College for several years.

Warren was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, and a square dance club.Warren loved his life on the farm, raising dairy cattle and hogs, and was proud of his faming practices. He loved the Lord and his family, and opened his heart to others. He enjoyed working with metal during his retirement, playing cards, and car rides with his family. He also enjoyed square dancing and listening to his family play the piano.

Survivors include his wife Marie of Grinnell; two daughters Connie Thompson of Gilman and Marla (Boyd Francis) Urfer of Brooklyn; one brother Paul (Leona) Fogel of Marshalltown; three in-laws Dorothy Ann Stone of Marshalltown and Virgil and Dorothy Jean Stone of Grinnell; five grandchildren Kris Watts of Newton, Darrin (Melanie) Thompson of Thor, Andrea Cline of Brooklyn, Derek Francis of Williamsburg, and Erika Francis of Marengo; and four great-grandchildren George, Brennan,Thailen, and Lacie. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
