Lucas David Mann was born the son of David Eugene Mann and Vicki Lynn Cummings on July 7, 1981 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised in Montezuma, Scranton, and Brooklyn respectively. He enjoyed wrestling and playing football at BGM High School in Brooklyn and he graduated with the BGM High School class of 2000. He then attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. |
Following his education, Luke moved to Brooklyn and he worked for Donaldson’s in Grinnell as a welder. Recently, he obtained his chemical applicator’s license and commercial driver’s license and he began working for New Century Farm Service in Millersburg. Like his grandfather Eugene Mann, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Malcom. |
Luke was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, ride his motorcycle, and go boating with his friends. He was a very loving and giving person who dearly loved his family and friends; especially his nephew and niece, Payton and Makenzie. He held a special love for his Mastiff dog, Brutus. Luke will be remembered for his smile, his great sense of humor and quick wit, being an excellent cook, and for always lending a hand to those in need. |
Luke is survived by his mother, Vicki (John) Van Renterghem of Brooklyn; his sister, Niki (Zach) Stuart of Hudson, Iowa; his nephew and niece, Payton and Makenzie Stuart of Hudson; his paternal grandparents, Eugene and Mary Lou Mann of Malcom; and his maternal grandmother, Marilyn Cummings of Malcom; and his special friend, Jen Gulling of Newton. Luke was preceded in death by his father, David Mann in 1996; and his maternal grandfather, Marvin Cummings in 2002.
