Dwight R. Lorenzen, 62, of Grinnell, died March 9, 2010, in Grinnell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dwight R. Lorenzen Memorial Fund.

Dwight was born March 8, 1948, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Bertha Wolf Lorenzen. He was a graduate of Central Lyon High School and Riverside Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Army. |
On April 2, 1971, he was united in marriage to Susan DeGroot, in Rock Rapids, where the couple made their home. They moved to Ontario, California in 1981 and later moved to Grinnell in 1997. Dwight held many jobs throughout his lifetime, including Lyon and Sioux Rural Water, G.T.E., the Marriott Hotel, and most recently as co-owner with his son, Michael of I-80 Cycle in Grinnell. He was always considered an outstanding employee. |
Dwight lived for his family. One of his favorite things to do was sitting at a campfire with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and building legos with his grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Grinnell; four children, Nicole Lorenzen, Danielle Lorenzen, and Michael Lorenzen of Grinnell, and Heather (Chris) Laughter of Saratoga Springs, Utah; four brothers, Norbert Lorenzen of Elkton, South Dakota, Ted (Christine) Lorenzen of Clermont, Georgia, Loren (Mona) Lorenzen of Mason, Michigan, and Vernon (Penny) Lorenzen of Rock Rapids; two sisters, Donna (Eric) Figoras of Ansonia, Connecticut and Elaine (Bud) Ault of Litchfield Park, Arizona; and three grandchildren, Joshua Lorenzen of Grinnell, and Lia (Isaac) Gerke and Nicholas Laughter of Saratoga Springs, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Albert. |
