Beth was born on September 28, 1926, in Blue River, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leslie and Thelma Totten Dunston. She moved to Wonewoc, Wisconsin in 1941 and was a 1944 graduate of Wonewoc High School.
On August 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Daniel R. “Bob” Shaker, in Union Center, Wisconsin and the couple lived in Stanchfield, Minnesota. Her husband died in 1974, and she was later married to John “Jack” Pagel on March 16, 1974, in Cambridge, Minnesota. The couple returned to Wonewoc to make their home. She later moved to Grinnell in 1996, following the death of her husband, Jack in 1995.

Beth’s primary job throughout her life had been raising and spending time with her children, but she also worked in an ammunitions power plant and also for Oscar Mayer in Wisconsin. She was a devoted and very caring mother and grandmother and was always concerned for their wellness. She enjoyed for many years attending all of her family’s activities She was kind-hearted and loved by all who knew her, many of her children’s friends enjoyed calling her mom.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Beth (Rick) Foster of Malcom, Iowa and Marcia Sue (Don) Jones of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Donna Krausman of DeForest, Wisconsin and Judy Dvoreck of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Travis, McKenzie, and Austin Foster, Sara and Paul Lucero, and Mindy Dohls; and four great-grandchildren, Riley Renzo and Daniella, Mason, and Derek Dohls. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sons, Daniel and David Shaker; and one brother, Sherman Dunston.
