Brook was united in marriage to Grace Olive Blankenfeld on June 21, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple was blessed with two children, Larry and Linda. He honorably served his country during World War II as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1942 until 1944. He was stationed in the Philippines in the South Pacific. Following his active service, he played baseball as a short stop for the St. Louis Cardinals farm league, where his career ended with an injury. He then moved back to Grinnell and he was employed at local areas businesses including Phillips 66, Mitchell Motors, Citie Service Gas Station, which he owned and operated, Moorman’s Feed, and Farmhand in Grinnell, where he retired from at the age of 70. |

He had a signature smile and a keen sense of humor and was one who enjoyed joking and laughing with family and friends. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed the tranquility of watching daily life from his comfortable chair in front of his home, driving the country roads, and hunting. His other enjoyments included Iowa State Cyclones athletics, square and round dancing, farming, mowing, making peanut clusters, and playing cards with the Wiley’s. Brook was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church and the Grinnell American Legion VFW. |
