Carol was born on December 22, 1941, in Grinnell, Iowa to Berlou and Revea Innis Veith. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1960.
On September 3, 1960, she was married to Jerry Barnard in Grinnell and to this union was born three children, Kelly, Berlou and Kevin. The couple lived in Grinnell and she worked as an administrative assistant in the tariff department of General Telephone Company of the Midwest.
On September 17, 1976, she was married to Thomas Vaughn in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell. Following her husband’s death in 2002 she moved to Milton, Iowa.
Carol was a member of the Milton Christian Church and she enjoyed reading, needle work and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly (Curtis) Short of Milton; two sons, Berlou Barnard of Omaha, Nebraska and Kevin Barnard of Oskaloosa; one step-son, Tim Vaughn of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and one sister, Linda (Gael) Doane of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one step-son, Tom Vaughn; and one brother, Leonard Vanderveer; and her step-father, R.W. Van Draska.
