Leta Lavon Becker was born on December 20, 1926, in Fayette, Iowa to James and Naomi Shippey Gaynor. She was raised in Fayette, graduated from Fayette High School and received a BA degree from Upper Iowa College.
On May 17, 1947, she was married to Walter F. Becker at Clermont, Iowa. The couple lived in various Iowa communities before moving to Lynnville, Iowa in 1954. She taught elementary school in Lynnville for a few years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and caring for pets and animals. She moved to Mallard Point in Cedar Falls in 2007.
Survivors include her son, Steve (Geri) Becker of Monona, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jana (Ron) Holcer of Meadville, Missouri and Derrick Becker of Marceline, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Kristen, Kendra, Kaylen, Kiera and Korrie Holcer; and Mike Gaynor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Richard Gaynor.
