Rosetta M. Meldrem, 77, of Grinnell, died August 21, 2009, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and where the family will be present from 4:00 to 6:00 Sunday afternoon.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice.
Rosetta was born July 25, 1932, in Garfield, Iowa, the daughter of John Maletta and Mae Cline. She was raised in Centerville, Iowa and for a short-time in Rockford, Illinois. She was educated in the Centerville School District.
On February 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Max Meldrem, in Montezuma, a union of 60 years. The couple lived in Grinnell where she was employed at several restaurants including, Skel-Diner, Hickory Room, and Cunningham Drug. She was an active member of the Red Hat Lady Bugs.
Rosetta enjoyed the company of her family and friends while playing cards, bingo, and several other games. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, camping, and cooking. Later in life she relished her time going to Tama with her friend, Erma.
Survivors include her husband, Max of Grinnell; two children, Vickie (Jerry) Blain of Newton and Brady (Julie) Meldrem of Ottumwa; one daughter-in-law, Becky Meldrem of Hiawatha; six grandchildren, Summer (Matt) Guy of Newton, Layna (Brad) Collum of Nevada, T.J. (Amie) Blain of Oskaloosa, Jennifer (Jason) Goad of Vinton, Codie (Joe) Amason of Cedar Falls, and Cassadie Meldrem of Cedar Falls; seven great-grandchildren, Quintin Meldrem, Shealyn Collum, Keegan Meldrem, Raymond Goad, and Taylor, Tanner, and Tyler Guy. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, David Meldrem on April 30, 2009.
