On January 12, 1963, he married Sandra Kay Long in Kirksville, Missouri. He was a devoted member of the UAW for Donaldson’s and President for several years. Even after retiring, he still held a passion for helping with the UAW. Wayne loved spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He enjoyed the campfires, traveling, fishing, ranger rides, chocolate malts and pies, and visiting with all his friends at the lake. Wayne is survived by his children, Michael (Patty) Funk of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Terry) Van Rheenen of Johnston, Iowa, Scott D. Robertson of Utah; four grandchildren, Kayla and Morgan Funk, Justin Van Rheenen, Stacy Kerr; one great granddaughter, Emmy Van Rheenen; and special friend, Barbara Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandy, in 2000.
