Diane Baltisberger, 65, of Grinnell passed away June 30, 2009, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Susan Sanning, Grinnell Regional Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Organist will be Denise Baustian and vocalist will be Rhonda Minner. Pallbearers will be Joyce Ashby, Norma Brignon, Donna Keup, Pam Kinnaird, Harriet Lincoln, and Judy Sears. Honorary bearers will be all members of the Grinnell High School Class of 1962. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice or Grinnell Regional Home Health Care. The daughter of Clark and Faye Thornton Brink, she was born September 6, 1943, in Ames, Iowa. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1962 graduate of Grinnell High School. Following her education she was employed with GTE and later Grinnell Mutual Re-Insurance Company. On January 20, 1968, Diane was united in marriage with Gerald E. Baltisberger, in Shenandoah, Iowa. The couple continued to live in Grinnell and she was employed for her father at Clark’s GMC Sales as a secretary. She retired in the early 1980’s. Diane was a devoted wife and very loyal to her many friends. She loved her home and took great pride in how she kept her home decorated. She enjoyed flower arranging, shopping, and collecting tea servers. She was considered a great role model to her many friends. Survivors include her husband, Gerald of Grinnell; and several relatives and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters in infancy.
