Eugene Michael Kennedy was born on November 21, 1953, to Eugene Vincent Kennedy and Dorothy Evelyn Sell Kennedy in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from Dubuque Wahlert High School with the class of 1971. |
He was employed with the Saydel Community High School in Saydel, Iowa for several years before working for Johnson Controls in Chariton, Iowa. He was recently employed by Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, Iowa as a welder.
Mike was a very talented musician who loved playing the bass guitar and singing lead vocals in the many bands he played with. He was also an outdoorsman that enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, water sports such as boating, and riding his Harley Davidson. Mike will be remembered for his keen sense of humor.

Mike is survived by his children, Christopher (Sarah)Kennedy of Smithfield, Virginia, Robin Kennedy of Dubuque, Steven (Nikki) Kennedy of Dubuque, Joshua Kennedy of Iowa City, Iowa, and Rebecca Kennedy of Altoona, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Philip, Joseph, Mitchell, Ricky, Marissa, Morgan, and Jenny; his parents, Gene and Dorothy Kennedy of Melrose, Iowa; his siblings, Candy (Don) Boucher of Northampton, Massachusetts, Mary Hale of Melrose, Theresa (Robert) Briggs of Melrose, Patrick (Chris) Kennedy of Dubuque, Dianna (Jorge) Morales of West Des Moines, Maureen Lee of Des Moines, and Edward (Michelle) Kennedy of West Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
